I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..
Yes it does get better, I am a little over six weeks out and already I am loving to eat shrimp, chilli, and things with flavor!!! It helps to get past the puree stage it will get better and you will have more options. Are you making your protein drink with milk? That could make you sick, try making it with water. Some of the protein drinks I could drink before.
I can't drink now because of them making me sick. You may have to try a few different kinds to find one that works! Just keep at it and before you know it you will get there..
I understand how you feel. i'm almost 6 weeks out .what gets me is one day chicken goes down good ,next day I have dumping with itanything I eat I get the chest pains with. yes even yogurt does it too..
But we have to know it will get better...
Weeks 1-3 for me were ROUGH, but seriously it gets better, Week 4 for me was a huge turning point. Medifast food still doesnt really taste as good as it did before but I do NOT miss being hungry... I felt sorry for myself too, I cried forcing myself to eat, but each stage it got better, vitamins were gross but I'm 6 weeks out, 40lbs down and I feel a million times better! so yes, it gets better, I'd give it another week or two and you'll feel 100x better...
It absolutely gets better!! Just after.
, I just didn't have any interest in eating very much. My husband had to remind me to eat a meal. Be content with that...as it doesn't last forever. Your honeymoon period is the first year or so post-op. This is when you will lose the lion's share of your weight. Embrace it.
I used to eat half a large pizza with no problem...now, when you mention the word pizza....I think, "Ugh, too much bread!" I can eat pizza, but only a piece or two, depending on the size of the pieces. I am almost 4 years post-op...
I'm out about the same as you. I just advanced from liquid to pureed/soft. No where in my instructions did it talk about spices. I haven't tried chicken yet, but tonite I had 2 ounces of grotons white fish filet poached in miso soup (with a little extra miso). On liquid I had black bean soup enhanced by unflavored protein and flavored with extra chili powder. I threw a couple of very finely chopped chives on butternut squash soup.
Looking back I think that I have probably "enhanced" half the stuff I've eaten, including the protein shakes (I use powder and lite vanilla soy rather than canned). Nothing has given me any trouble at all - but then I like spicy food..
As for eggs, the best was the first one with just salt & pepper, but now i've got a little smoked salmon and some.
Herb soft cheese. Try Eggfaces blog for pureed foods, she's got a long list..
Add some spice to your Medifast diet and your life. We're gonna get through this - better menus are coming.
I'm 5 months out and still don't enjoy the taste of hardly anything. The last couple of weeks, I have just started to get some tastes for a couple of things..
I know it sounds crazy, but I was dying for a salad, I was ok'd for lettuce at 4 months. Took me a couple weeks to get up nerve to try it, and it was the only thing I had so far, that tasted at least like something edible. A few days later, I made a taco salad, minus the shell.........this tasted good..
It takes time, and I'm hoping that I get more back little by little. Other than that I do like shrimp cocktail...
Hang in there...it does get better. As for how long...everyone seems to have their own timing. One day you will eat something and you will be pleasantly surprised at how good it tastes. The funny thing is the foods that always tasted so good to you before may not be the ones that you enjoy as much. My taste changed on several things. But that's not a bad thing either.
I'm 9 months post-op...some things are still changing for me but I feel sooooo much better and it's worth the fight to get through the tough days!..
