That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could assist you..
Just found a post that suggests that the download feature is workable if one accepts only immediate payment methods (e.g., cc w/ authorize.net):.
So is this feature even usable for those other payment methods (cc for later verification, mo)?..
Did you jsut follow the setup description here for downloadable products?.
Added products and attributes with filenames....but no download link appears anywhere.....
The documentation is not quite complete. It says.
"After the product is added go to the "Product Attributes" section under the "Catalog" heading in admin..
Choose the product in the bottom "Product Attributes" box.".
And skips the in-between part where you have to add new attributes for downloadable products and then modify the product itself for those attributes..
So, using the link, follow the instructions until you go to Products Attributes. Then create a new Option Name such as "Downloadable file", create Option Values for it such as "MP3" and "WMA". Now at the very bottom, select your product, choose an Option Name, an Option Value, enter an Attrib Sort and a Value Price if needed, and finally the Filename, Expiry, and Download Count. Do this for each download product (some may have multiple Options)..
Now go to Categories/Product and edit your product. Make sure it has 0 weight. Select the appropriate options (under Downloadable file using this example). Voila! When shopping, the options are selected by the user and the download link appears after the order confirmation under "Download your products here"..
Oh yeah, don't forget to upload the software to the Catalog/Download directory....

I believe that the contribution to handle delayed payment methods is called Downloads Controller or something similar..
