I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..
Pretty sure every month xx,xxx goes to the registrar before they get anynames...
So you rekon that snapnames pays a monthly fee to all it's partners + shares the profit from the sales with them ? .
If so, thats not so bad I guess, they need to have some way to encourage the better registers to sign up for the drops..
I thought you meant registers were selling the best names direct to some people (big buyers) and not letting them drop at all, that would not be good.
I believe the deal is that a percentage of all sales go to the registrar that provided the domain. Snapnames has their exclusive partners generating a lot of their sales, and then a whole bunch of other registrars catching drops for them. CityCenter.com, for example, did actually drop but was caught by a registrar feeding Snapnames..
On the other side of this, can you just imagine being the person that let CityCenter.com drop and then finding out later it sold for 70k? Ouch.......
I'm having these thoughts all the time ! If only they knew.
On the other hand if you are eyeing a HostGator that is no longer used it's best to contact the owner first. You may get a better price than at the drop auctions where there is competition..
Yeah that must be real paintfull !!!.
This was'nt a netsol name so they are not likely to get a cut of the selling price..
There's a luvely name going to drop this month - I've been trying for months to get a hold of the current owner but with no luck.
I'm going to have to sit and watch it go to "the usuals" for $xx,xxx - Bummer.
That is going to be painfull but I will have to watch !!!.
Ps - Comptons.com just went for $6,100 -.
Does anyone know who "NewGroup" is at snapnames ??.
A couple of more nice sales - Jotto_com for $7,600 and faso_com for $3,000.
I just checked the whois on CityCenter.com and it was bought at Snapnames by Bellagio Resorts - MGM MIRAGE..
I bet they would of just kept on bidding for that one had they needed to !.
Well, there's a drop name that will be getting developed.
Yeah I was in on that auction, it sold for 10k..
