Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..
I, too, have always been a speed eater and I must admit it only took about 5 times of that horrible, painful feeling in my chest before I learned to S L O W way down. The only time I think I eat too fast is if I am.
To someone or doing something else at the same time...that's a no-no for me now. If I'm with someone, I wait until they start.
Before I put my next bite in and I don't talk again until I've chewed, chewed, chewed and swallowed. I'm 3 months postop and don't have that problem much any more....but it does take thoughtful eating habits, for sure...
I was a speedeater also................and although I have been sick maybe 3 or 4 times...........only once was because the speedeater came out.........I knew right away and told my hubby and son, it's my fault I'm gonna be sick.......I was eating to fast, and it was only a couple of bites, but I knew. Then it took me about 45 minutes of suffering before I finally got sick, brushed my teeth and felt soooo much better..
I am right with youa speed eaterand someone who always drank with their meals!! I think the problem is that when we eat something like cottage cheese, yogurt, shakes, etc., it takes us back because these items go down without any problems. So when we eat the next item and it is a chicken breast, I am still in the same mode!! I totally forget and pay for it!! But I am SLOWLY.
, because stuff getting stuck or dumping are not fun!!!! Debbie..
I am so with you. Having been an elementary teacher for 35 years, I ate very fast: 10 minutes or less. I am 6 months out and still need to remind myself to eat slowly. I admit that at times, I still catch myself eating too fast and end up either almost sick or having that very heavy feeling for an hour or more. I, too, need to make my mind catch up!!:)..
This issue was resolved for me by.
The book "the Beck Medifast diet Solution.. train your brain to think like a thin person".. I know I talk about this book a lot but it was indeed a lifesaver. You can find it on.
Or many other on-line places like Amazon for jus ta few dollars.. it's a great read!!..
I too am eating too fast so here is my solution and it works for me....
Cutlery it's all down to cutlery.....
Use a teaspoon.....
That helps..it does for me.... what you cant fit on a teaspoon doesnt go in.....
Try it hun..
Great idea about the teaspoon Buzz...exactly what I do too....I always try to think back to the first class I took and How we were taught that the digestion begins with the enzymes in our MOUTHS...not just the stomache! This means your Medifast food will definitely digest better if you remember to CHEW.....CHEW....chew. ha ha.
Really though...It is one of the hardest things to get right...the POWER of the human mind is awe inspiring isn't it? Just proves we are ALL creatures of habit for sure!.
You can do THIS! Yes you can....Everything comes with time and sometimes too often discomfort ey?! HA!.
Have a good one!.
I find I'm not a speed eater...it's just sometimes stuff tastes so good I eat it too fast. Love the idea of the teaspoon...I'll have to try that!!!.
