My first question is How to change how the Medifast menu bar in windows 7 ? Thanks for any answer. Second question of mine... I discovered that I wasn't watching my carbs carefully and was having a delayed dumping syndrome from oatmeal. It seems like everyone else was eating it and I thought it was a healthy choice and only bought the low sugar alternative. It fooled me because the carbs were too high and about 2 hours after eating it I would start shaking and my heart would begin pounding. I mentioned it to my surgeon and he told me that to many carbs will cause dumping also.

Lesson learned!..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

I had a roll today with my chili....and thought I was going to crawl under my desk and die after I ate it. Duh...that is what I get for not thinking and just eating while I worked...lesson learned..

Same symptoms..fuzzy head, a bit shaky and the quickened heart.... luckily it didn't last too long...but I know better now...

I was told in the begining not to eat oatmeal I think it was just for right after surgry but they said I could have gritz (omg ewww) and I could have cream of wheat but not oatmeal cause it swells up to much.

They may of been saying this for the first 2 mths after surgry but me (who always miss understainds things) I quit eating oatmeal all together the max oat meal I have had is a bite or so of no bake cookies cause well I have to taste all I make to see if it is okay or needs something more.

Oatmeal use to be one of my favorites and i.

Avoid.

It now and I am not doing nobakes again they are easy to get tired of and xmas is over so I got no reason to make em.

I use to love eating them and when I tried a bite when I was doing em they just wow to much sweet.

We all need to remember to oatmeal isnt the only carb out there so this information that you have given to us is a wonderfull thing for us to learn.

Ty for it..

No bake cookies was my downfall. That is our families fav cookie for all holidays. I gone 2 years and all those holidays with not one cookie cause I was too scared of the sugar. Well the last Thanksgiving I believe I ate one and had no reaction at all so all my fear just left. Thats what started me back on thinking eating it was ok. I could kick myself for ever trying that cookie and ruining my mental fear...

Low sugar doesnt mean a serving meets the criteria for a WLS patient. Sugars should be 3-5gs per serving depending on how much you can tolerate. Best practice is to make your own from scratch and add Splenda to taste. Use irish oats - they are not heavily processed the way the stuff in the barrels are and have better nutritional content. You can boost the protien content with unflavored whey isolate - tastes like you cooked it with milk. Oatmeal always made my digestive tract move right along before.

Surgery.

, so I am sure I would explode if I ate it now. Carbs are fine in moderation, but should not be the main ingredient of any meal b/c even whole grain/whole wheat products take up alot of room, are hard to digest, and keep us from getting our protien in first...

Good information to know...made me stop and think about some of the foods that has made me have those symptoms. And foods that, like you, I thought of as healthy. Thanks for sharing!..

I love steel cut Oatmeal.

Do you think this would be OK... anyone?..

I eat a single packet of low sugar oatmeal every morning. So far have not had a dumping episode from it. That's not to say I won't later on so I'll know right away if it starts to happen. Thanks for the heads up Barb...
