I just wanted to share a strange thing that happened to me today my future daughter-in-law wants to fix dinner for her parents and my husband and my self, so we can meet, which is very nice of her, and I am only 5 weeks out, and she said let me know when you can eat normal so I can have that dinner, I thought for about a second and I said if that is what you are waiting for you are going to be waiting along time cause I probably will never it normal again HOOORAY, and it doesn't bother me to watch other people eat foods I can't eat, I just thought I would post it and see if anyone else has real life funny with new life of a gastric bypass patient...

My future daughter-in-law asked my hubby and I to meet her parents at Applebee's the same week I could finally eat solid Medifast food after.

Surgery.

Needless to say, I ordered a side order of shrimp (5 grilled shrimp). I ate 2 of them and offered up the other 3....everyone knew I had GBS and it truly was a WONDERFUL evening...

I'm 16 months out and really, how I eat now is "normal".

Its normal for me......

People ask if it's enough...or if it sucks to only be able to eat what I do....

I remind them...its great...

I get all the best parts of meals without all the fillers..

Burgers without the bun, steaks without the potato, chicken without the pasta, fish without the fries...and let me tell you...I don't miss it at all....

I've gone to restaurants and buy a burger with bacon and cheese extra lettuce....no bun.

People look at me funny...but I get exactly what I can eat...its awesome...

At first I was nervous to order things different but now I figure why waste it if I know i'm not going to eat it...(or hubby eats it...lol) My normal...may be weird to others...but it works for me...and even gives me a giggle when people look confused..

Luckily I was 9 months out when I had to have the family thanksgiving and christmas dinners.. I literally ate a teaspoon of eveerything and it felt awesome... In time you will be able to eat more.. and the fact we only get half the calories or anything else from what we eat makes it easier to justify.. it gets easier... either eat before you go and just have fun in the converstaion.

It time to add more fun things into the mix... get out a board game and play scrabble .. lol..
