That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..
Some pouches do not like cold stuff off the rip... they cant handle it ... it causes it to contract. gulping is really a bad thing also your pouch feels up to fast and causes pain... take it easy you dont want to injure your lil pouch..
Its because your pouch can only hold so much. You cannot gulp you just have to sip and sip and I know it sucks believe me I know. After 30 days of no soda it will get easier. Carbonation hurts trust me. It becomes a habit of not drinking it. A drink I recommend, and only thing I drink besides water, is Fuze Slenderize.
It only has 2 carbs and 10 calories and will last awhile for you in the beginning. They also have alot of extra nutrients added. It does get better I promise. Just have to be careful in the beginning..
I had my bypass 2 years ago and I still cant gulp or chug and water is the worst! especially if it's ice cold!...I drink a lot of Medifast diet ice tea-like Arnold Palmer Half and Half made by Arizona Ice Tea. And still no carbonated drinksoh the pain! ( I would love an ice cold Killians Irish Red beer!)..
I totally understand your feelings here... 2 weeks post op, I am SO used to drinking 3-4 liters of water a day, now I can barely drink a 20 oz bottle. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like when I can start.
, I drink a huge bottle in 20 min, I am such a gulper... but I pay the price now if I do... SO it is a.
Curve, gotta sip and sip and sip some more... Something I have noticed I have been trying to do is this... IF I take a huge gulp in my mouth, I slowly swallow it, keeping it on my tongue a little longer allowing my mouth to be quenched as well..
Good luck this is a hard struggle for me too, but we can do it, it's NOT that hard, think of how those skinny jeans are gonna feel when you can fit in them!!!.
Yes I was pretty p-o'd to find out I couldn't drink water like how I wanted to. It hurt! I had to modify the way I drank by letting the fluid trickle down my throat which was soooooo frustrating. Especially when you are really thirsty and just want to quench your thirst. I am almost 4 weeks post op now and I can drink liquids a LOT better than I could a couple weeks ago so it does get better. I still don't chug my beverages but I can take a big mouthful, let it sit there for a second (kinda swish it around my mouth) and swallow slowly. My doctor told me it will get better and better and I will be able to drink normally soon..
Until then, maybe sucking on ice cubes if you aren't sensitive to the cold too much?.
Also, hot tea helped cause you can't chug something that's hot and it was actually quite soothing on my pouch..
Good luck and hang in there!..
When I feel I need a gulp I put a mouthful of yummy icy water .swish it around and spit it out. it helps me as my mouth is always dry..
Although sipping is the best thing to do I find that sucking on ice cubes or chewing crushed ice is the best for me I get more water in that way.. and we all know that water is good for us. Keeps things moving !!! I'm sure with time you'll find your nitch!! Good Luck!!.
I realize everyones different but I'm 3 months out and find thar those worthless unsatisfying sips did eventually become nice drinks of ice cold water. But I will always miss guzzeling water or a nice ice cold beer. The price a man pays to see his dick in the shower. LOL..
