Is iPage a good place to get my website from?

First off, Is iPage a good place to get my website from? Hoping for any answer. Another quick question... I understand that PayPal is a supported gateway for OS Commerce. PayPal has a Shopping Cart system of it's own designed for novice users. If you choose to use PayPal as your gateway with OS Commerce, does it incur any restrictions compared to the other gateways?.

Would such a system work transparently, like any other e-commerce site, without the user knowing you are using PayPal? I want a completely integrated, professional looking system. Can I get this with PayPal as a gateway?.

Many thanks.

Of course! although you might want to make sure and wait for another person to confirm it as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you contact the iPage guys because they can assist you better...

Hi:.

You'll get better integration by installing the PayPal_Shopping_Cart_IPN contribution. It adds a lot of function, suggest you review the documents....

Quick overview Re: the IPN contribution..

When customers are redirected to paypal to pay, in order to actually complete the transaction in OSC, they have to hit the 'continue' link. Otherwise, you'll get the payemnt, but the order won't show up in the OASC admin. the IPN contribution takes care of that by recording the transaction in the db before the cusotmer is directed to paypal..

Also, the IPN contribution 'pre-fills' the signup fields for the customer to make the paypal sign up a little easier...

Paypal now has a "Return URL" feature that automatically returns the customer to your shop without them having to click the obscure "Continue" link..

You can set the return url in your Paypal admin..

You call the osCommerce file www.domain.com/checkout_process.php..

Paypal IPN contribution is still the better solution...

Unfortunatly, paypal themselves have recommended that you NOT rely on the Return URL feature, as it is not reliable enough, and becaue the return URL can have a longer delay, it can still mess with the transaction..

PayPal recommends you use the IPN...

If you use Paypal's "Auto Return" feature, you shouldn't have any problems with customers failing to return to the store - it removes the need for them to click back...

Nope, paypal is not completly integrated..

Your customers will still be redirected to paypal to make their payment, and then return to your store afterwards (*if* they hit the continue link)..

Unfortunatly, you'll have to pay a little more for a solution that will completly integrate...
