First of all Mini browser for top Medifast menu bar on mac? Looking forward for any answer or 2. Another question... Hi guys! I usually start with, I'm a Kaiser patient......... Haven't been on as much lately as it is my busy time of the year and I've barely been able to keep my head above water, hence why I think what happened happened. For the past couple of weeks I haven't been really feeling that great, I've had leg cramps, retching (not really throwing up, but sure going thru the motions), and feeling light headed, WELL it all came to a head this past weekend. I wanted to go to Tahoe (about a 3 hour drive for me) to see some friends and do an event up at the casino.

Well by the time I stopped at the rest stop, (one of those filthy porta potty ones) I knew there was something VERY wrong.

When I finally saw the GI Doctor it was discovered that I had a huge upper GI bleed right where they stapled the new pouch! (thru an endoscopy- sorry spelling is probably wrong). They call it a circumfrential ulcer and they cauterized and injected it with epinephrine. I was released from ICU and put in a regular room, and then released to go home! I have a follow up with my primary doctor tomorrow and then another follow up with my gastric bypass doctor the following Thursday. I'm hoping to find out exactly what caused the ulcer and what we do now because the GI Doctor was concerned it could happen again because of the location. THIS WAS NOT FUN!! All I can say to all of you is to listen to your body and not ignore all the signs it gives you, because now I have learned the hard way to slow down! This is definitely bypass related and I've seen more and more of these posts lately.

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

Diane - I know just what you mean about "busy season". One year, I worked with pneumonia for three weeks. Its so easy to forget your priorities during peak times. And especially dangerous after.

Surgery.

Luckily I was able to retire before mine. Hopefully, you are in a position where you feel free to take a little time off - but if you're in the tax business, as I was, it isn't gonna happen, not in March. Be careful, Tahoe is fun but don't gamble with your life..

That they can fix the problem so it doesnt happen again, when you think about what could have happened to you, if someone had come across you laying there and all sorts of awful thoughts went through my head so glad you are doing better..
