Quick question: My escape key opens start Medifast menu! help? Hoping for any comment. 2nd question I got is.. I'm wondering if anyone here has had GBS covered by United Healthcare insurance. For a long time, they simply wouldn't cover GBS under any circumstances. I understand they now cover it under some policies..

My company is switching to United Healthcare the first of the year and I'm dreading it. I was covered by United for 6 years in late 90s/early 2000s and frankly, they are worst healthcare insurance provider I have ever personally dealt with..

They would just arbitrarily deny coverage on services their book said they would cover. I had to fight with them about everything. Sometimes they would eventually pay. Other times not..

Their staff was terribly rude and incopetent. On two separate occassions, specialists I was referred to refused to see me because they had grown tired of dealing with United..

I'm dreading going back and it's seriously making me consider seek other employment..

Have you had recent experience with United Healthcare? If so, how has it gone?..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably know..

A few years ago that was my husband's insurance..it still is but not the point since I have my own insurance through work and couldn't use their's unless I paid an extra 100 per month plus the cost of the insurance. That was outa the question. Anyway a very obese man my husband worked for had the Gastric Bypass done..probably 5 + years ago and they ended up paying for most of it..

Good luck..I think it just depends on the policy. I have blue cross and in my policy they have it excluded but alot of blue cross policies will pay for it...

Well, this is flippin great..

Just found out GBS is NOT covered under my wonderful new United Healthcare plan. Which means that my follow up visits and my GBS-related meds are NOT covered under United Healthcare. They don't even count toward my annual deductible. Uncovered service. I.E. I'm on my own.

What a bunch of bastards. Our healthcare system here in the US is so flippin' great. We have so much choice. Gotta protect that wonderful choice. Gotta protect those great insurance companies. Gotta mandate piss-poor insurance.

Gotta protect those wonderful insurance companies. Because we have such a WONDERFUL system here in the U.S. Praise God. And pass the.

Omeprazole.

..

Well, F*ck the Democrats AND the Republicans. Lying bastards. The whole lot of them. And BTW, F*CK United Healthcare and the horse they rode in on. Thank you Barack Obama and thank you Rush Limbaugh. Idiots...

Jerry, is your insurance thru your employer? If it is, ask about a transfer of care option. It is a form you can send to your ins for continuing an ongoing condition...I am not sure if this is just in California or not though..I was told about the form/policy when we were getting new insurance at work, thankfully I didn't need it...good luck....that sucks!..

Thanks for the suggestion Shanny. I'll ask at least. As you can see, I'm ready to spit nails about this. I just get so frustrated when I see politicians and.

Talking.

Heads making ridiculous claims that our current system is the best possible and we cannot improve it and that it gives us SO MUCH choice..

Frankly, if this is the best we can do as a nation, we are truly a pathetic lot and we simply don't deserve a better system..

My employer switched to UHC in order to save money. But the real effect of what they did was to significantly lower my wages while simultaneously gutting my healthcare coverage. Nice. Such a great choice...
