That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

I don't think all carbs should be eliminated just moderated. I was told carbs should be half of what the protein is. I don't eat pasta, bread often because it makes me sick and it was my downfall before.

Surgery.

I love fruit so eat as much as I can tolerate. I just moderate my carbs cause I have always been a carb junkie and that helped get me to the point that I needed.

I don't crave the same types of carbs I did before but I still crave them at times. Moderation I think is the key thing...

I do think the distinction we are drawing here between simple carbs (processed foods, white flour, pasta, etc.) and more complex carbs found in fresh veggies and fruits is important. From the perspective of a diabetic, simple carbs definitely spike my. Blood sugar in a much more dramatic way than do fresh fruits and veggies. Thus, it is important for me personally to avoid/severely restrict simple carbs...
