Quick question: What are the advantages of serving vegetables/ salads in Medifast menu planning? !! WHAT? Hoping for any response. Another quick question... So Linked posted something about her hubby leaving a can of "fresh poured coke out for almost an hour" unguarded... Here is MY mental status on soda... I know I am wacked, don't bother to tell me that!.

Hey, I KNOW my weakness is going to be Dr Pepper... my plan right now (not knowing if it will work) is to picture a Dr Pepper in my head... and picture the sugar that is in there.... then picture that in lard... which is what it will do to my body, that is enough to make anyone gag! SO in my brain right now, with NO Dr Pepper around, I am TRYING like hell to program myself to think about THAT when I think Dr Pepper! So the smell, and the taste might always get me associated with lard! We will see if I am.

Crying.

About no Dr Pepper in a few months or if I can mentally tell myself it's gross (but oooo sooo good!)!!!..

I like witch drank Medifast diet coke religiously....from dawn to dusk....

Thank god I dont' crave for it now....

Whatever you can do to get yourself past the crave for pop......is good..

Doesn't matter if it sounds silly or not....

- I know I use silly things if they work for me.....

When I was quitting smoking...i kept saying out loud to myself....

I wanna be a non smoker..if I wanna be a non smoker...I can't smoke....

Yup sounds silly...but it worked...and i've been smoke free for about 4 hmmm maybe 5 years now...lol..

For months after.

Surgery.

I craved the delicious burn a soda feels like on your throat. I still miss it occassionally, but at 1 year out have never taken a sip. But it is amazing how many alcoholic drink are carbonated or contain soda! Something to watch out for..

I was a Medifast diet mt dew addict. I quit in june(.

Surgery.

Was in december). I knew I had to get out of that habit far before.

Surgery.

I too can truely say I could careless about pop anymore. It just has no hold on me, like it use too..

Good luck to you and keep up the good work,.

I thought getting over pop would be the hardest part but I had no problem with it at all. I drink water constantly and Fuze slenderize drinks when I want something different. I have on occasion had a Medifast diet 7up but can only tolerate a few drinks and thats enough to quench my thirst for it. Dont recommend that at all especially the first couple years...

I recently read a study that says pancreatic cancer is linked to soda pop consumption..

Before WLS I was a Medifast diet coke FIEND and whatever else you could get that was carbonated. I've read so many studies that link obesity, particularly in children, with the consumption of these drinks..

I didn't drink soda pop growing up, we had kool aid, milk or water..

After.

Surgery.

I just didn't want it and more importantly could not drink anything carbonated AT ALL..

Now that I "know" all the bad things associated with carbonated drinks I am erasing them from my options. They are just not a consideration..

I drink Crystal light occasionally and very diluted and water......lots and lots of water..

Sounds like a good plan you have for retraining your brain...

Ohh fyi I am not craving it yet... I just expect that I probably will at some point. I am mentally prepared for it now! Lard lard lard lard!!! EWWWW~..

My take on soda now at a year post op.... Ugh!.

I hate soda now. I have been tempted to try it once or twice, letting the bubbles go flat, or even once not, just to see what would really happen to me. Because I too was a huge coke drinker. Of course Medifast diet only. I hate the way soda feels when it hits the pouch. Its like instant discomfort, a WAY too full feeling.

Its awfull enough, and not the least bit satifying, to have turned me off soda forever..

You may think you want it now. And that you need tricks, but honest if you ever did give in, it would not be good. Its just not the same anymore. A good thing I suppose.....

I can relate to changing mental pictures. Long ago I gave up powdered sugar donuts by imagining that the sugar was rat poison. I could visualize the skull and crossbones, the whole deal. Might sound crazy, but it worked for me...

Haha Lin! thats too funny! My hubby came home to find me on the couch. He had a hot apple pie from McDonalds. He asked me if I wanted a bite and quickly retracted saying "oh, nevermind, I'm sorry" then proceeded to eat it over me.. Im laying on the couch with apple pie crumbles falling in my face. almost killed him lol.

As for soda. you never saw me pro-op without a can of Coke. The real deal. no Medifast diet for me. couldent stand the aftertaste. June 09 till now.

Just cant want it.. I'm a crystal light girl =)..

I kinda miss that feeling of having a can of coke myself though...What I really miss is having a beer.. all those Brewfest's that I used to go to and never more.... hehe...

I am in the minority, but I still do occasionally (about twice a week) drink Medifast diet Pepsi or Coke Zero. I pour it over a lot of ice to decrease the carbonation a bit, but have no problems with it. My surgeon is fine with us drinking Medifast diet soda in moderation. She said that the studies regarding.

Calcium.

And carbonation are not at all conclusive, and that the biggest area of concern for her is the acid (but that acid is a concern in other beverages as well)... hence her plea for moderation. (The recent study about pancreatic cancer was tied to SUGARED soda only, BTW.).

My roomate drinks dr pepper.

I was a big pop drinker for many years I drank almost any soda I could get my hands on.

I had a hard time stoping drinking it and I owe thx to being in chemo cause I couldnt eat or drink anything that really helped break the rythem of soda drinking I havent had soda in it feels for ever.

We got it in the house cause my roomate drinks it and if I really wanted one I could easly get it.

I dont want it I dont miss it.

This dont help but the main excuss people use on why they drink it is caffeen.

In my opinion if you need caffeen that bad try tea or.

Coffee.

Even coco they all contain it why reach for something like carbination besides are any of us gunna miss the soda burp through the nose that burns bad lol..

I will always regret not having a real coke the last week or so of my old life. But my true regret is beer. It's not so much the alcohol but more like the conversations and.

Socializing.

That goes with the shit..

But the truth be told NOW, I did drink a lot of it on my.

Liquid diet.

LOL.

I remember my surgeon asking me how I was doing with fluid intake and I told him "no worries there Doc"..

I was a Dr. Pepper addict some drink beer or do drugs but my drug of choice was Dr. Pepper. I am 6 months out and I can honestly say that I do not even have the craving for them. Do not worry you can do it to after.

Surgery.

Your taste seem to change. Right after.

Surgery.

I was drinking sugar free crystal light and about 2 months after.

Surgery.

I could not stand the taste it was just too sweet and the thought of DP I think I would OD on the sweetness of it...

Hey DoubleB,.

My last planned Medifast food goodbye was a Mexican Coke (real sugar there). I'm glad I did it. I was never an all day or even one a day drinker and had long since cut waaay back. But that was the one thing I really had to say a fond farewell to..

Beer on the other hand, probably 5 or 6 total over the last 25 years (but did cook with it and I imagine I will again. But not today.
