? I mean the hospitals where I live are horrible, and butcher normal people, what if your unconcious and cant tell them you have had this.

? lol just a question that has been plaguing my mind...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

Yes I am sure you are right. And I will see about getting a card that says I have had it, would rather not wear anything if I dont have to, never been one for jewelry except my wedding band of course!!.

Your doing well! have a great day..

I already talked to you but I need to put a reply in here to for the rest of our group.

I was told that a medical braclet or somthing is needed because if something was to ever happen where we r unconcious and need a tube put into our stomachs they need to do gbs patients with a ultra sound or they can tear through the pouch.

I have a keychain with a hard drive in it and usb on it with a emergency whistel that can be heard a few blocks away if anyone is interested in them I went to.

Thank you again for your reply it makes so much sense!..

Yes I was told to have some type of medic alert that states "Gastric bypass patient - no NG tube". I have a pretty bracelet not the ugly metal ones. Lots of choices these days...

Thanks for this post, I had no idea a bracelet or ID tag would be that important for GBS patients. I'm definitely looking into it..

I carry a card that has my name, birthday, family doctor and emergency contact number on the front with the words "I AM A DIABETIC" on the front and on the back it lists all of my meds..

After I made the card I laminated it so to protect it..

I showed it to my surgeon the other day and he said that was a great idea and told me that after the.

To replace the diabetic with "GASTRIC BYPASS"...

Thank you all for the replies, I wasnt sure but figured it was prolly a good idea to have one!! so glad I decided to post..

The medical alerts I've heard for GBS are "No blind NG tube".. and no NSAIDS.. We dont want anyone shoving a tube into us without a scope.. it could teear our pouches to shreds.. and we cant have NSAIDS anymore.. that about covers it I guess.....

The NSAIDS thing is debatable. My surgeon and the other one I now see for follow-up have no issues with them in moderation, especially this far out. The likelyhood you would be administered any NSAIDS during an emergency are slim and none, and if your life is in danger they are going to do whatever it takes to save you. No Blind NG tube is the real lifesaver. You can make your own tag at Wal-Mart and put it on any kind of keyring or jewelry you like. I carry mine in my wallet b/c I figure they will check me for ID in an emergency...
